MCWP Training
As the first CITB/IPAF (Construction Industry Training Board/ International Powered
Access Federation) approved training centre for Mast Climbing Work Platforms in
Europe, SGB Mastclimbers are able to further enhance the skills of both their
own employees and other industry members.
We offer all of the IPAF Registered Training Programmes listed below, which are
conducted regularly within one of our training centres throughout the country.
With the introduction of the BS7981 British Standard for MCWPs, there is a requirement
that each construction site should have at least one appointed person trained
to a competent standard.
Demonstrator
Able to carry out the induction requirements of User. Trained in engineering
and design parameters and daily & weekly inspection procedures of both fixed
and mobile units.
Course: 1-2 days dependent on experience.
Operator (Mobile)
Understanding the basic operation of mobile mast climbers. Daily inspections,
safety procedures and repositioning of the unit via the powered chassis.
Course: 1-2 days dependent on experience.
Installer
Trained in both sections above, detailed engineering knowledge and trained in
erection, dismantle and relocation. Training on ties, loads, specifications and
knowledge of different machine types.

All courses cannot be attended without having passed the standard CSCS Health
& Safety Awareness Training Course.
A maximum of six people can attend each course and the cost per head will be
available upon application. An element of this cost is reclaimable under the CTA
Training Scheme to CITB levied companies.
